Heather J.H. Edgar, Ph.D.

Heather J.H. Edgar, Ph.D., Forensic Anthropologist and Associate Professor of Anthropology received her training from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (B.A.), Arizona State University (M.A.), and The Ohio State University (Ph.D.). She served as the Curator of Human Osteology for the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology for 14 years before joining the OMI. Her primary research is in dental anthropology, especially of African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and pre- and post-contact Mexicans. 

Dr. Edgar is a member of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. She is President of the Dental Anthropology Association (2016-2019). She is also a member of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) Review Committee (2015-2019).
